Coinciding with the Deadball Era and the brief run of the Federal League, New York’s Elektra Toy Co. produced composition dolls in unknown quantities as carnival and fair prizes. Of the company’s baseball dolls, fewer than (10) are known to exist. The offered doll is not only one of those rarities, but the only known American League example and the only one with both a composition head and hands. Standing 24”-tall, the keepsake is clad in a pinstriped uniform with “AL” sewn to the chest in brown felt. The doll exhibits moderate to heavy wear and is missing its original cap. The head shows moderate crazing and has a small crack at the front of the neck. Fingers are missing from both hands. On the back of the neck, a raised-letter identifier reads: “ELEKTA (sic) T. NC. NY – COPYRIGHT.”
